Stephen E. Plain
Steve Plain began his career in 1977 at Main Hurdman CPAs where he advanced to a senior accountant. In March 1980, he joined the Internal Audit and EPD department at the Fortune 500 Company, Interpace Corporation. He became the Controller/Treasurer and eventually the general manager of their subsidiary company Interceram Inc. in October 1983. Four years later in 1987, Steve became a partner in a local well-established CPA firm, and the partnership of Urmston, Forshee, Plain & Amelio was established. During this venture, Steve was introduced to the financial services industry and he became an HD Vest Advisor in 1999. He has been a chapter director for the company since 2007.
Steve holds FINRA licenses Series 6, 63 and 65. He is licensed in CA, CT, FL, ME, MD, MA, MS, NJ, NY, PA, RI, SC, VA, WI. He also holds life and health licenses in NY, NJ and PA. In November 2014, Steve sold his partnership interest in the CPA firm and now devotes his time as President of SEP Financial Services providing wealth management services to his clients.
A graduate of Notre Dame, Steve is a member of the AICPA and the NYS Society of CPAs. Steve is the founding Chairman of the Town of Wallkill Boys & Girls Club Inc., a founding director of International Medical Relief Foundation Inc., a past president of his Rotary Club, a trustee of his church and serves on various other committees in his local community. Steve and his wife Maureen have four children—Brian, Megan, Caitlin and Molly— and have a daughter-in-law, two sons-in law, a grandson, and three granddaughters.
